Department Overview

Grants Development and Administration provides services related to existing CCSD grants, including all non-Title I federal and state entitlements, competitive grants, formula-based grants, and corporate/foundation grants.  GDA is involved in all aspects of developing and submitting grant applications and the subsequent grant management, including fiscal oversight.  It is required by regulation that any school district grant applications of $25,000 or above, or those having federal ALN/CFDA numbers, be worked in cooperation with GDA.  Please check out our Links.

 

Department Functions

Grants Development and Administration (GDA) seeks to promote and support Clark County School District (CCSD) initiatives to have students “ready by exit” by providing coordination of the grant application process, technical assistance, regulatory monitoring, and evaluation.  GDA provides services related to existing CCSD grants, including all non-Title I federal and state entitlements, competitive grants, formula-based grants, and corporate/foundation grants. GDA  and works with central administration, division, area zone, and school staff in seeking funding from federal, state, corporate, and private sources. Program oversight and evaluation are conducted throughout the life of the project and contribute to improved operations and future funding.

 

Services Provided

Grant Administrators

  • Locate funding opportunities
  • Seek approval to proceed with grant opportunities after alignment with district initiatives is ascertained
  • Keep abreast of current educational research on topics pertinent to their grant area of expertise
  • Coordinate interactions/planning among those responsible for implementation
  • Work alongside budget personnel to develop grant application budgets
  • Prepare board items for grant submission approval via the School Board of Trustees Consent Agenda
  • Provide technical assistance in grant writing and management for project personnel
  • Provide fiscal oversight of grant projects
  • Approve all expenditures
  • Ensure that grant objectives are being supported and that expenditures follow appropriate spending guidelines and regulations
  • Establish budgets, open new accounts, write required amendments to adjust budgets, monitor spending, and provide monthly spending summaries to field personnel
  • Communicate with the funding agencies
  • Oversee the preparation of final financial and program reports

 

Grant Evaluators

  • Assist with needs assessments
  • Develop evaluation plans for grant applications including determination of measurable objectives and program outcomes
  • Develop/administer evaluation surveys
  • Conduct ongoing project evaluation and analysis
  • Write required evaluation reports
  • Coordinate data collection
  • Recommend improvements to programs
  • Report the results of the project to the funding agency and other interested parties
